For some reason, your description and the actual video itself immediately reminded me of this song by Of Monsters and Men (I love their old stuff). This song/video is from around the same time as Run Boy Run, and this is one of my favorites by them. Someone was onto something in the video design around that time period. In case you haven't seen it, here it is. The song always gives me chills: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A76a_LNIYwE
Oh wow! That was an incredible video, and I can see why my description brought it to mind. It looks like they could have been designed by the same team (though they were not). Gorgeous and creepy ... futuristic but also medieval-looking. I love that kind of mash up. Sadly, not happy ending, but - what a ride!! Thanks so much for sharing it. 💜 You always have the best music finds!
And if, like me, you can't get enough of this song, here is a video I made to it of a trip I did through Iceland years ago :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ITPMiO0NME Thanks for bringing back such good memories this morning!
I love, love, loved this! Thanks for sharing. You know how much I want to go to Iceland, so this was a lovely armchair trip through your eyes. Those landscapes leave me breathless. And you look like you're having a wonderful time, which makes me smile. Happy the song I shared led you back to those memories. So much fun!
Wonderful song - I enjoyed it! I can see the themes you called out in the video and agree. I also think this is a reminder that the future belongs to the children of the world. They have quite a task ahead of them when it comes to repairing the planet (all those monsters erupting from the ground), but they are up for the battle as they run ahead into a bright shiny future. Or so I hope. ☺️
I didn’t get a friendly feeling from the first monsters - but definitely from the last one who carried the boy to safety. I’ll have to watch it again as well. A longer form version would sure be fun!
I'm so glad you liked it, Cathy. As someone with a theater background, I imagine you appreciated the drama of it. I could see that set as stage design. It would be amazing ... especially the monsters! I need to watch it again. I felt like the monsters were allies of the boy - not chasing him, but providing a kind of escort. But maybe not? Either way - I love the wildness of it.
I hope you enjoyed the video. I'm curious if you, as someone writing a sci-fi novel, got more of a sci-fi vibe or a fantasy vibe. I can't quite make up my mind which. Maybe it's a hybrid. Maybe it doesn't matter. I'm still curious, though.
Thanks for coming by and leaving a comment. Always nice to know I'm not alone dancing around on a Monday morning!
What a cool video, Jamie. I feel like I've stepped through a door to a new experiences after reading you Monday Moxie posts. 😎
:) It was new to me too! I love discovering new music ... even if I'm really late to the party. So glad you enjoyed it.

I'm with you! 💃🏻🕺🏼.
My 1st thought... Viking vibes 😁!
2nd glance in my mind's copy: more fantasy, yet with a touch of sci-fi. Yes, a clear hybrid.
I’m watching other videos from the album - there’s a through line of repeat characters and motifs. I’m fascinated now!
& I find myself thrown into Viking adventures. 😁
I must check out the album / videos as well… sounds pretty good.
