I adore a ghost whisper and my pumpkin baked in bread alongside (not muddying up) my coffee. Here's to summer slumps and autumn activity! I'm right there with ya.

Yes! Autumn always seems to sort of bring me back to life. And - boy oh boy! - could I use a little jump start right about now.

Maybe we can have a virtual pumpkin bread & coffee date one of these days. ;)

Doesn’t that sound delightful! I’d make pumpkin bread with chocolate chips just for that!

Oh - YUM!!! 😋

Gorgeous piece, Jamie. You are amazing! I do think it's a miracle that anyone with a conscious is achieving anything at all in the US at the moment, given what you're up against. And it ripples around the world, of course, and affects us all. Sending you a giant hug. xx

I know you feel such deep empathy with us, Christina, and are then are also contending with the unrest in your own country. I feel so grateful that we are able to connect during such times - not just you and I, but our collective group of people who are struggling but refusing to give up. Sometimes the only thing that keeps me going is knowing that those folks are out there, and knowing we're all in this together.

True!

Thank you for this lovely note, Jamie. Yes, we are all in this together. The "this" you are currently in (along with most the Sirens) is worse than the one we're in, but it certainly feels as if much of the world is heading this way. But they can't take human connection away from us. They just can't.

Wow, I really needed to read this today. I had a bit of a panic attack about how much I have to do and how little time to do it in today, and I have been joking with my family that I'm fantasizing about having a whole day to just sit and watch tv (a very un-me thing to fantasize about) which is how I know I need a break. But it's so hard to actually take one! And while I, too, have squeezed in a lot of fun activity this summer, I'm also feeling completely worn out. I am going to make a conscious effort this week to try to pace myself through. Thank you for reading my mind!

It's such a challenge, isn't it? I'm right there with you - cramming every spare moment in a futile effort to "get ahead." But I NEVER get ahead. EVER. Because there are always MORE THINGS added to the list. I am learning (finally) that sometimes you just have to say, "Enough is enough!!" and take the break even when you feel like you can't/shouldn't. You will feel better and be able to do more if you give yourself that gift. That I can promise. Sending loads of TLC. xo

I am sooo with you in finding summer to be an “absolute slog, a season to endure.” As we enter the back-to-school time of year, my spirits soar with the excitement of learning and experiencing new things. Bring it on!! 🥳🎊🎉

I celebrate with you, my friend. Bring it on, indeed!! xo

Yes! This crone is sitting in shorts & flip-flops, light hoodie in 65⁰ early morning shade. The streets are slowly waking up, squirrel chirp and bird twitters succumbing to the hiss and rumble of wheels on pavement. Cat is tiptoeing over dewy grass, not entirely displeased. And the coffee is hot and strong!

SuddenlyJamie's avatar

That sounds like the perfect way to start your day, Liz. Thank you for sharing! 💜

Here's to you, my fellow autumn girl! And as for the sluggishness--I've been asking myself--is this grief? Because the dismantling of our democracy--the cruelty of this regime--seems like something damn worthy of grieving for...

SuddenlyJamie's avatar

I think you may be onto something, Diana. There is definitely an element of grief and even a bit of despair. You know what made me feel better today? Rewatching the new Superman movie. 🥰

Re: Superman--now I'm determined to see it! Thx for that!

I too am looking forward to Autumn. And I love this, "We forget that nature moves in seasons and we are part of nature." So true!

It’s easy to forget in a culture that is always on, always moving at top speed. Hope you are enjoying the weekend and perhaps getting a little taste of the autumn slow down. 💜🍂

Yes, love the word knackered especially pronounced with a charming British accent.

Jess Greenwood's avatar

Never miss an excuse to try on a fake British accent. I'm not even sure one can say "knackered" without doing it, which makes it all the more fun!

Pamela Clapp's avatar

Haha 😆

Exactly!! I am not British, but I love many of those words and phrases. Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
