This reminds me of the many evenings I did my homework while listening to WNEW FM (102.7) out of New York City. Jonathan Schwartz told stories about his childhood that made me feel like I knew him. WNEW’s DJs created intimacy at a distance, an enviable skill.

And now you have reminded me of listening to the late-night broadcast on WBZ 1030 AM. They had all these call-in shows that ran overnight. It was like a secret meeting of strangers in a place that existed outside of time and space. Thanks for nudging that memory up from the depths. 💜

Isn't the video kind of adorable? I hesitated to share it since it's not Halloween or anything, but then I thought, what the hell? I love how in the end he's doing the vacuuming. 😁

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! xo

Radio is my favorite! I so wish I had grown up in an era where we all gathered around the radio to listen instead of turning on that stupid box with its weird glow. One of my favorite things to do in the fall is listen to a football game on the radio, the literal play by play a bygone talent. I adore that this song came to you through the radio waves and it has most assuredly given me some moxie for the day.

Hey, Jess! How's your girl's boo-boo doing? Feeling better?

I love radio, too ... that surprise of not knowing what you'll hear next, what new song or artist you might discover. I come from the olden' days of recording favorite songs off the radio onto cassette tapes. (Yes, I am *that* old.) It was so exciting and quite a skill to be able to create the perfect mix tape sans any dj banter or ads.

Not being a sport person, I don't often listen to games on the radio, but when I do, I am always so impressed by the way the announcers can create the vision of the play in 3D action. I love when they get so excited that they start talking faster and their voices get louder and higher. You can't help but scoot to the edge of your seat!

Glad you liked the song. xo

Oh girl, you're in good company. I, too, recorded off the radio. I was never a mix tape expert, but I would sit next to my boom box for hours waiting for the song I had to have to come on! Having to use just your voice to paint a picture for a listener is such an admirable skill. I hope we don't lose that with all we are able to do now with CGI and AI and all the "_I's". Sometimes, it's nice to just be read to or talked to, to see it in your own mind's eye.

You are so sweet. I've been checking in with Lyns too. Holding Parker in my thoughts.

How cool that you did a stint as a dj. That sounds so fun, but also very daunting. As you say - all the music in a huge library. How on earth would you pick?!? I just heard someone in a podcast today talking about online radio stations ... small, indie operations that broadcast over the web. I have no idea how that works, but I'm curious now. All I know is I HATE the AI "dj" on Spotify. What a gross idea.

Honored that you spent some of your limited time here with me. Always so great to chat!
